Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire

Oswaldtwistle is a town in Lancashire. Oswaldtwistle developed as a town during the 19th century, following the construction of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. The town was home to James Hargreaves, inventor of the spinning jenny, and to Robert Peel, developer of calico printing. Oswaldtwistle Mills is a textile mill converted into a craft fair and with an exhibition about life in the mill. The town is within the council area of Hyndburn (Lancashire).
