Old Windsor, Berkshire

Old Windsor is an ancient village in Berkshire. The village was originally called Windsor, until the town of "New" Windsor grew up around Windsor Castle and assumed the name. (Old) Windsor is first mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle and the site of an important palace of the Saxon Kings. The village is within the council area of Windsor and Maidenhead.
