Old Whittington, Derbyshire

Old Whittington (formerly just Whittington) is a village in Derbyshire. It is listed as 'Witintune' in Domesday. The present Church of St Bartholomew dates from 1869, the first on the site dated from c.1150. Revolution House is a stone cottage in which the earls of Danby and Devonshire plotted the Glorious Revolution. The prefix 'Old' was added during the 20th century to further distinguish the village from nearby new Whittington. The village is within the council area of Chesterfield (Derbyshire).
