Old Town, Yorkshire
Old Town (or Bridlington Old Town) is an urban area in Bridlington, Yorkshire, in the East Riding. Bridlington was originally two settlements: the Old Town about one mile inland and the Quay area. The Old Town dates back to the 12th century when it was founded by the monks of the nearby Priory. The town grew rapidly in the 14th and 15th centuries on the wool trade. The Old Town is famous for its cobbled streets and many historic buildings. St Mary’s Church, also known as Bridlington Priory, dates back to the 12th century. The Old Town is within the council area of East Riding of Yorkshire.
