Old Deer Park, Surrey

Old Deer Park is a 360-acre area of open space alongside the River Thames between Kew Gardens and Richmond in Surrey. The park was formed as a hunting ground by James I as the New Park of Richmond, becoming the Old Deer Park after Charles I established Richmond Park to the south of the town. The park is now largely a golf course and the site of the King's Observatory (1769). The park is within the council area of Richmond upon Thames.
