Old Beaupré Castle, Glamorgan
Old Beaupré Castle (Welsh: Hen Gastell y Bewpyr) is a ruined mediæval fortified manor house near St Mary Church, Glamorgan. The original house was an L-shaped building, now located in the inner courtyard, built around 1300. During the 16th century, intensive remodelling saw the addition of the impressive outer gatehouse and a three-storeyed Renaissance porch, along with the buildings around the middle court. The buildings on the west side of the middle court provided luxurious living accommodation. The house was owned by the Bassett family from the 14th century to the early 18th century when it passed to the Jones family. They chose to live at nearby New Beapure, following which Old Beaupré Castle gradually became ruinous. The monument is in the care of Cadw. It is within the council area of The Vale of Glamorgan.
