Old Alresford, Hampshire

Old Alresford is a village in Hampshire. The earliest reference to the village is as 'Alresforda' in an Anglo-Saxon Charter of 701. Old Alresford lies about half a mile north of New Alresford, which was founded in the late 12th century. Old Alresford House was built between 1749-1751 for Admiral Lord Rodney. The Church of St Mary the Virgin (C of E) is a brick building dating from the 1750s. The village is within the council area of Winchester (Hampshire).
