Norton, Durham
Norton is a market town in County Durham. At the north end of High Street is a large village green with a duckpond, surrounded by Georgian houses and cottages. St Mary the Virgin church, which stands on the village green, is the only cruciform Anglo-Saxon church in northern England. The modern town has expanded to include several suburbs, among them Roseworth and Ragworth. The town is within the council area of Stockton-on-Tees.
