Norton, Derbyshire
Norton is a village in Derbyshire. The villages dates from Saxon times. St James' Church dates from before 1172. Norton Hall, now apartments, dates from 1815 but the Norton estate dates from pre Conquest times. The area was brought into the municipal area of Sheffield in 1934 but the village retains its identity and, whilst now been conjoined with Little Norton, remains most surrounded by parkland and green fields. It is within the council area of Sheffield.
