Northolt, Middlesex
Northolt is a town in Middlesex. The earliest record of Northolt is in 872 as the Anglo-Saxon 'norð healum'. Though the Grand Junction Canal was built through the parish, Northolt remained a rural village well into the 20th century. Suburban development began from the 1920s. St Mary the Virgin church (13th century) stands on the hill overlooking the old village. Prior to the Second World War, Northolt was famous for the pony racing which took place in Northolt Park. The town is within the council area of Ealing.
