Northampton Cathedral, Northamptonshire

Northampton Cathedral (formally the Cathedral Church of Our Lady and St Thomas of Canterbury) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Northampton, Northamptonshire. It is the seat of the Bishop of Northampton. The church was constructed in 1840 to a design by A.W.N. Pugin. It was extended in 1864 by Edward Welby Pugin. The stain glass windows, dating from the 1860s, were made by John Hardman of Birmingham. The 19th century parts are in Decorated style. The west end of the cathedral was extended from 1948-1955 by Albert Herbert. It was designated as a cathedral in 1976. The cathedral is within the council area of West Northamptonshire.
