North Tawton, Devon
North Tawton is a small town lying on the east bank of the River Taw in central Devon. North Tawton was a market town by the end of the 12th century. Agriculture and the woollen industry provided the chief sources of employment for many centuries. North Tawton Town Hall (1849) is in the neoclassical style. St Peter's Church (C of E) was first recorded in 1257. The town is within the council area of West Devon (Devon).
