Newbridge is a former village that is now a suburb of Wolverhampton, Staffordshire. The earliest reference, from 1286, is to 'Novo Ponte' (Latin for New Bridge). The bridge referred to took the London-Holyhead road over the River Smestow. It is within the council area of Wolverhampton.
