Newark Priory, Surrey

Newark Priory is a ruined Augustinian priory near Ripley, Surrey. The priory is believed to date from the late 12th century. It was dissolved in 1538. The site on an island surrounded by the River Wey and its former leat (the Abbey Stream). Newark Priory is one of the few religious houses in Surrey to retain substantial upstanding masonry. of the church, the north and south walls of the choir and presbytery survive to a height of over 30ft and the south transept is complete except for the roof. Fragments of the south wall of the nave and the north chapel also survive. Only a small part of the cloister ranges is still upstanding. The monument is within the council area of Woking (Surrey).
