New Southgate, Middlesex

New Southgate is a suburban area to the south-west of Southgate, Middlesex. The area first developed as Colney Hatch Park to the east of the Colney Hatch railway station. The station opened in 1850 to serve the Colney Hatch Asylum to its west. The name New Southgate was adopted in the 1870s apparently to disassociate the development from the asylum. New Southgate is within the council area of Enfield.
