New Brighton, Cheshire

New Brighton is a seaside resort and suburb of Wallasey, Cheshire. It lies at the north-eastern tip of the Wirral peninsula. New Brighton was created by Liverpool merchant James Atherton who, in 1830, purchased 170 acres of land at Rock Point and began to develop it as a fashionable resort. It has sandy beaches and the UK's longest promenade. It is within the council area of Wirral.
