New Barnet, Hertfordshire

New Barnet is a suburban town in Hertfordshire. New Barnet owes its conception to the building of the Great Northern Railway in 1850, when a station serving High Barnet was built, but located a mile away from the town centre, so that this 'new' area quickly saw development. It now forms part of a wider suburban area and is contiguous with High Barnet to its north-west and east Barnet to tis south-east. The town is within the council area of Barnet.
