Nether Winchendon House, Buckinghamshire

Nether Winchendon House is a Tudor country manor house in Lower Winchendon, Buckinghamshire. It was built on the site of an Augustinian priory. Jasper Tudor, Duke of Bedford bought and largely remodelled the priory in the 16th century. The property was purchased in 1559 by William Goodwin. It has remained in the same family line for over 400 years, passed down through inheritance. The house was bequeathed to Sir Francis Bernard in the 18th century. He was the governor of Massachusetts Bay and his policies contributed to the events leading to the American Revolution. While primarily a private residence and event venue, the house and gardens are open to the public on certain dates. It was used as a filming location of Agatha Christie's 'Ordeal by Innocence' in 2007 and in the 2020 film 'The Nest'. It is within the council area of Buckinghamshire.
