Nantwich, Cheshire
Nantwich is a market town in Cheshire. Nantwich is on the Cheshire Plain, on the banks of the River Weaver. The Shropshire Union Canal runs through the town. The town is believed to have been a salt-producing centre from the 10th century and is, along with Middlewich and Northwich, one of the famous salt towns of Cheshire, the "Cheshire wiches". Nantwich has a large collection of historic buildings including the timber-framed Elizabethan mansion houses Sweetbriar Hall and Churche's Mansion. The town is within the council area of Cheshire East.
