Mount Grace Priory, Yorkshire
Mount Grace Priory is a ruined Carthusian Charterhouse near East Harlsey, Yorkshire, in the North Riding. The Mount Grace Charterhouse was founded in 1398 by Thomas Holland, 1st Duke of Surrey. Extensive standing remains demonstrate the typical layout of a charterhouse. Also surviving are a fishpond, three well-houses, a moat and the remains of the priory mill. After the Dissolution, the ruins of the guest-house of the priory were incorporated into Mount Grace House, a rare building of the Commonwealth period, built by Thomas Lascelles (Historic England Grade I Listed 1150882). The site is within the council area of North Yorkshire.
