Mossley, Antrim

Mossley is a former village that is now a suburban area in Newtownabbey, County Antrim. It is within the townland of Ballyhenry, in the civil parish of Carnmoney. The area had long been the site of cotton works on the Three Mile River. Mossley Mill operated as a flax mill from 1834 to 1995. A small settlement developed around it. The area saw large-scale suburban development from the late 1950s, as part of the development of the new town of Newtownabbey. The former mill works are now civic buildings for Antrim and Newtownabbey Council. The Mossley area is within the council area of Antrim and Newtownabbey.
