Mortlake, Surrey
Mortlake is a suburban town in Surrey, on the south bank of River Thames. It is listed in Domesday Book as 'Mortelage'. Since 1845, the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race has had its finish point at Mortlake. It developed from a large village into a small suburban town in the 19th century. It is now contiguous with Barnes to its east and East Sheen to its south. The town is within the council area of Richmond upon Thames.
