Montpelier is a suburban area to the north of the city centre of Bristol, Gloucestershire. The area developed from the mid 18th century. In 1764, Thomas Rennison established Rennison’s Grand Pleasure Baths, a complex of baths, tea gardens, and a tavern called the Old England (extant). The area is within the council area of Bristol.
