Moat Yards, Suffolk

Moat Yards is a mediæval moated site at Mill Common, Suffolk. The inner moat is around 50ft wide on the north and east sides and narrowing to 33ft on the south. It remains open to a depth of about 5ft. It surrounds a central platform raised up to 2ft above the prevailing ground level and measuring approximately 570 sq ft. The inner moat is partly surrounded by a second moat about 38ft wide which has been infilled. The site is within the council area of East Suffolk (Suffolk).
