Milltown, Down
Milltown is a village, lying on the north bank of the River Bann in County Down. It is within the townland of Lenaderg, in the civil parish of Tullylish. In the 19th century, owned by the prosperous Smyth family, Milltown became a significant linen bleaching complex, central to the region's textile industry. John Smyth Sr. developed Milltown House, a three-bay two-storey detached house, around 1825. The bleachworks were demolished in the mid-20th century. The "Red Row" terrace, built for mill workers, remains a visible part of the industrial past. Since the late 20th century, the settlement has sometimes been known by the townland name. The village is within the council area of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon.
