Millbrook, Antrim

Millbrook is a suburban village, lying to the south-west of Larne in County Antrim. It is within the townland of Drumnahoe, in the civil parish of Kilwaughter. Millbrook developed during the 19th century around cotton factories on the brook flowing south through Drumnahoe townland. By the early 20th century these had developed into the Millbrook Bleaching and Finishing Factory and Kilwaughter Weaving factory. Housing was also developed around and south of the factories during the 20th century. With the decline of the linen industry, the area now has two large industrial estates. The village is sometimes considered an outer suburb of Larne. The village is within the council area of Mid and East Antrim.
