Milebush, Antrim

Milebush is a suburban area in the north of Carrickfergus, County Antrim. It is within the townlands of North East Division and Middle Division, in the civil parish of Carrickfergus. The area developed from the early 19th century along the main road heading north (now North Road) from Carrickfergus. The name was apparently derived from the Mile Bush, a bush by the road side, one mile north of the town. The area saw significant development from the 1950s and has since become contiguous with the urban area around Carrickfergus and regarded as a northern suburb of the town. The area is within the council area of Mid and East Antrim.
