Mayobridge, Down

Mayobridge is a village, lying on the River Clanrye in County Down. It is within the townlands of Bavan and Mayo, in the civil parish of Clonallan. The village is based around a crossroads of the Hilltown to Newry road (B8) and the Warrenpoint to Rathfriland road (B7), next to the bridge over the Clanrye from which it takes its name. Previously a hamlet, the village has seen significant housing development since the mid 20th century. St Patrick's Church (RC) was built around 1806 by Fr. John Brennan, replacing a 1806 church, itself built on the site of a former mass rock. The village is within the council area of Newry, Mourne and Down.
