May Pole Knap, Somerset

May Pole Knap is a residential area on the western side of Somerton, Somerset. The name derives from the traditional usage of the knap (hill) as the site for the town's maypole. The area saw development during the 19th and early 20th centuries as the town grew beyond its mediæval core. The area comprises a mixture of Victorian and Edwardian villas, stone-built cottages and mid-20th-century housing. It is within the council area of Somerset.
