Market Brough, Westmorland
Market Brough is a village lying on the Swindale Beck in the north-east of Westmorland. It developed along the main road overlooked by Brough Castle and acquired a royal charter in 1330. It lies within the civil parish of Brough along with the nearby village of Church Brough, the two sometimes being considered one larger village of Brough, historically known as Brough under Stainmore. The village is within the council area of Westmorland and Furness.
