Mallusk, Antrim

Mallusk is a large village, now part of the larger urban area of Newtownabbey, County Antrim. It is primarily within the townland of Grange Of Mallusk, in the civil parish of Templepatrick. The Grange of Mallusk townland remained predominantly rural until the mid 20th century, aside from a hamlet around the Hyde Park Bleach Works and another (known as The Trench) around the mills on the Ballymartin Water. Developments around these hamlets began from the 1950s with the instigated of the new town of Newtownabbey. The late 20th and early 21st centuries saw massive housing and industrial development of the village. Mallusk is within the council area of Antrim and Newtownabbey.
