Maiden Castle, Yorkshire
Maiden Castle is a prehistoric defended settlement near Grinton in Yorkshire, in the North Riding. The site measures 354 by 289ft, covering about 1.7 acres, and is pear-shaped. The area has been enclosed by a substantial surrounding ditch and an inner rampart upon which are the footings of a stone wall. It is within the council area of North Yorkshire.
