Maghera Church, Londonderry
Maghera Church (aka Maghera Old Church) is a ruined church in the civil parish of Maghera, County Londonderry. The church of St Lurach was founded by the saint in the 6th century. Of the present ruins, the nave may date back to the 10th century. The unique decorated west door with its carved lintel dates from mid-12th century. The tower was added in the 17th century as a belfry. In the graveyard is a cross-carved pillar stone, traditionally marking the site of St Lurach's grave. The monument is in the care of the Department for Communities. The monument is within the council area of Mid Ulster.
