Maen Castle, Cornwall

Maen Castle is an Iron Age cliff castle, situated on a small headland overlooking Gamper Bay near Sennen, Cornwall. The cliff castle survives as a roughly-rectangular enclosed area of approximately 2½ acres. It is defined by steep cliffs on two sides, a boulder strewn slope on the third and a rock-cut ditch measuring up to 8ft deep with stone revetted rampart and counterscarp of up to 6ft high on the fourth. The main rampart has a massive stone wall of up to 200ft long, 11ft wide and 5ft high. It is within the council area of Cornwall.
