Lowwood, Antrim
Lowwood is a suburban area, usually considered an outer northern suburb of Belfast, County Antrim. It lies within the townland of Low-Wood, in the civil parish of Shankill. Prior to the 1930s much of Low-Wood townland was occupied by the extensive demesne of the Parkmount mansion (1792). The parts of the estate further from the shore were developed for housing from the early 20th century. The house was demolished in 1932, since when the rest of the townland, apart from that which lies within the grounds of Belfast Castle, has been developed, the area becoming a suburb of Belfast. The Lowwood area is within the council area of Belfast.
