Lower Place, Middlesex
Lower Place is a former hamlet that is now an urban area, lying either side of the Grand Union Canal to the north of Acton, Middlesex. Lower Place was originally a farm near present-day Waxlow Road. The Paddington Canal (now part of the Grand Union Canal) was cut to the south of the farm in 1801, the area being developed for industry and housing from later in the 19th century. Though some housing remains, it is now primarily an industrial area and the site of the Central Middlesex Hospital. It is within the council area of Brent.
