Lower Edmonton, Middlesex
Lower Edmonton (or Edmonton Green) is a former hamlet that is now the northern part of Edmonton, Middlesex. All Saints’ church was in existence by about 1140 and the present building dates from the 15th century. By the late 18th century Lower Edmonton was the main settlement in the ancient parish of Edmonton. In the 19th century ribbon development along Fore Street linked it with Upper Edmonton. The area became a shopping destination from the late 19th century, with the development of Edmonton Green street market. Edmonton Green is within the council area of Enfield.
