Low Caythorpe, Yorkshire

Low Caythorpe is a deserted mediæval village near Rudston, Yorkshire, in the East Riding. The earthwork remains of the village include the remnants of house platforms, crofts, trackways and quarries, together with remains of original ridge and furrow field systems. Low Caythorpe is mentioned in Domesday and for much of its history belonged to the estates of St Mary's, York. The population fell from the commencement of enclosure in 1513 until final enclosure in 1762. The site is within the council area of East Riding of Yorkshire.
