Loughinisland, Down
Loughinisland is a small village, locoated to the west of Loughinisland lake in County Down. It is within the townlands of Tievenadarragh and Castlenavan, in the civil parish of Loughinisland. Loughinisland Lake is known for the three ruined mediæval churches on a former island. On the mainland, St Macartan's Church (RC) was founded in 1787. A National School was established near the Church in 1833. The village grew around these throughout 19th and 20th centuries. The village is within the council area of Newry, Mourne and Down.
