Long Causeway, Yorkshire

Long Causeway was a mediæval packhorse route which ran between Sheffield, Yorkshire and Hathersage, Derbyshire. The route was used extensively in the Middle Ages by traders bringing salt to Yorkshire from the Cheshire salt mines by packhorse. A well preserved section exists between Redmires Reservoir, Yorkshire and the border with Derbyshire. This section of the routeway is within the council area of Sheffield.
