Little Dennis, Cornwall

Little Dennis is an Iron Age promontory fort, situated on Dennis Head near St Anthony-in-Meneage, Cornwall. The fort survives as the northern end of a rampart with its outer rock cut ditch towards the centre of the headland which defined the western side of the fort and the northern half of the interior. The name is derived from the Cornish 'Dynas' meaning fort. Within the enclosed area of the promontory fort are a number of surviving Civil War fieldworks, built by the Royalists in 1643-4 and were surrendered to Parliament in 1646. It is within the council area of Cornwall.
Historic England Scheduled Monument 1004431.
