Lissanoure Castle, Antrim
Lissanoure Castle is a ruined 18th-century castle, situated on an island on Lough Guile, within the Lissanoure Estate in County Antrim. The castle was built in 1770 by George Macartney, 1st Earl Macartney. The castle is on the site of an earlier castle built by Sir Philip Savage in the 14th century. The main part of the castle was destroyed by an accidental explosion in 1847. The courtyard remains, with an impressive Tudor revival archway and clocktower entrance. The castle is within the council area of Causeway Coast and Glens.
