Lisanelly, Tyrone
Lisanelly is a suburban area in the north of Omagh, County Tyrone. It is within the townland of Lisanelly, in the civil parish of Cappagh. Prior to the early 20th century, most of Lisanelly townland was rural, much of it within the demesne of Lisanelly House. The estate became the basis of Lisanelly Barracks during World War II. The barracks closed in 2007, the house having been demolished during the army's time on the site. Elsewhere the townland saw development from the mid 20th century. The area is within the council area of Fermanagh and Omagh.
