Levaghery, Armagh

Levaghery is a former village that is now a suburban area in the east of Portadown, County Armagh. It is within the townland of Levaghery, in the civil parish of Seagoe. Levaghery village lay along the main north-south road through Levaghery townland (now Gilford Road / Old Gilford Road). The northern part of the townland began to be developed for housing from the 1950s. A large suburban area now spreads east and west from the Gilford Road, effectively making Levaghery an eastern suburb of Portadown. Some of the older village buildings survive, notably along the Old Gilford Road. The area is within the council area of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon.
