Leonard Stanley Priory, Gloucestershire

Leonard Stanley Priory is the ruins of a Benedictine priory at Leonard Stanley, Gloucestershire. The priory, dedicated to St Leonard, was founded by the Berkeley family around 1130. It was a Benedictine cell of Gloucester Abbey from 1146 until its dissolution in 1538. The priory church, now known as St Swithun's church, remains in use. A 10th- or 11th-century chapel, later used as barn, has survived. A large 14th-century tithe barn also survives. The monument is within the council area of Stroud (Gloucestershire).
