Legoniel, Antrim
Legoniel is a suburban village, lying on the Ligoniel River in County Antrim. It lies within the townlands of Legoniel and Ballysillan, in the civil parish of Shankill. Legoniel developed as a mill village from the late 18th century. The settlement grew in size throughout the century alongside the linen industry. The Wolfhill Flax Spinning Mill operated until the 1960s. Recent decades have seen suburban housing developments surround the older part of the village. The village is sometimes considered an outer suburb of Belfast. The Legoniel is within the council area of Belfast.
