Leacroft, Staffordshire
Leacroft is a former hamlet that is now an urban area to the south-east of Cannock, Staffordshire. The hamlet of Leacroft dated at least as far back as the 17th century. It became the site of Leacroft Colliery from 1874. From the 1960s the area became a huge open cast mine which saw the demolition of the remaining buildings of the hamlet. The name is now used to refer to a retail and industrial area to the south-west of the original hamlet, on an area reclaimed from the open cast mining. It is within the council area of Cannock Chase (Staffordshire).
