Lammerside Castle, Westmorland
Lammerside Castle is a ruined 12th-century building in Westmorland. It was rebuilt and strengthened in the 14th century as a Pele tower to provide protection against Scots raiders but is now in ruins. Once occupied by the Wharton family, it is thought to have been abandoned in the 17th century when the Whartons moved to nearby Wharton Hall. The castle is believed to have previously been in the possession of the Warcop family. It is within the council area of Westmorland and Furness.
