Lambeg, Antrim
Lambeg is a suburban village, lying on the west bank of the River Laggan in County Antrim. It is within the townland of Lambeg North, in the civil parish of Lambeg. The village grew on the linen trade from the 16th century. Lambeg Parish Church (c of I) dates from 1849, but retains the tower of an earlier (1737) church. Lambeg Old National School (1849) is now converted to a dwelling. Lambeg Railway Station opened in 1877, though the village only saw the large-scale growth of suburban development from the mid 20th century. The village is within the council area of Lisburn and Castlereagh.
