Lady's Well, Suffolk
Lady's Well is a holy well in Woolpit, Suffolk. The well lies in the centre of a moated area, which it feeds, near St Mary's Church. Tradition reports that the church formerly contained a shrine to the Virgin Mary, to which pilgrims resorted and that there was a chapel near the spring itself, though no vestiges of it are now left. The water of the well was reputed to be beneficial for sore eyes. In 1971, the well was encased in brickwork with a metal capping. It is within the council area of Mid Suffolk (Suffolk).
